I Miss Watching Sankarea

Sankarea was one of those anime series in recent years that I took liking to because it appeals to my outsider sensibilities. It has a unique take on the oversaturated zombie genre that focuses less on the zombie part and more on character relationships. The main protagonist, Rea, lives an affluent life with an abusive father, which drives her to kill herself. Chihiro is an obsessive male horror movie geek with a bizarre female zombie fetish, somewhat related to his view that the ordinary, square girls in his school are boring. Somewhat conveniently, he meets Rea before she commits suicide and administers an ancient reanimation potion on her, which turns her into a half-zombie because it slows down the decay of her body and keeps her conscious. Highly-recommended watching several times.
